Hi

As I have been running a blog on the forum since the forum started & people seem to like it I will continue

As everyone will know I have been a bit absent of late

All the funeral arrangements are sorted so I can get back to my birds

I will blitz the sheds over the weekend I will feel happier doing it

I now have some youngsters almost ready to go into the flight

Ive about 6 pinkies almost ready for ringing

Once One Cock has finished rearing the youngsters Im going to try breeding a lacewing I have a split Cock we bred late last year & a lacewing hen from an Ino background just thought I would give it a go

I will post Pics of this years babies when I have time but it will be a while before I can spare time for that

Ok I hope people will enjoy my blog as they have in the past

Thanks Everyone

Hi Ed, I'm really sorry to hear about your dad. You're right, you have had a tough year ...life is very fragile (we also see that in the birdroom) and its important that we all look after ourselves. My very best personal regards to you and your family, Dean.

Well I gave them 17 years doing my best to keep them going Now I have a normal life so I can attend shows if I wish

My wife wants me to push the birds My Mam loved the birds she always asked how we got on at a show & was over the moon if we did well

So lets see how things go should be interesting

Hi

I mentioned I lost one of my best Cocks the other day he was on his 3rd hen must have worn the poor fella out He was the most used Cock as he was so Good

Well better news I had 4 babies in the box so I thought I need to help the hen out so I fostered the 2 youngest to a pair above with 2 youngsters

The Fostered pair are well & being fed the Cock is busy feeding 4 he is happy

The Hen on her own is a cracking Mam she is feeding the 2 youngsters hens like that are priceless

She is a yellowface Cinn Grey She is out of My Best Cinns but she carries H & M hence the Y / F hehehehhehe

So Ive rung 44 youngsters now Im having a better season than I could have hoped for

Lost only 3 once they had been rung

I used 10 cages most of the time I used 12 at one time Im now down to 6 pairs

Some pairs 2 rounds the rest I have split up

One Cock has just finished raising youngsters

I have only had 2 pairs that were a disaster nothing from them

I hen was a pig she would get bored & leave the eggs so I had to foster her eggs but still managed 4 youngsters from her

ON average 6 eggs per pair

I will continue breeding for a while then stop as I will have enough

When Lee comes over we will have a sort out

I have a couple of decent Opaline Cinns Hens which are clean

Ok Bye

Morning

Well I have been asked to give a talk at our local club on how I prep the birds for a show as according to some people my lot are always in good nick

I was a bit fearful of talking as I dont have the time in compared to some of our Champion breeders

I take a great deal of pride in my show team I dont just take them out of the flight & put them in a show cage

Well I will let you know how this evening goes

HI

Ive picked a bird just out of the breeding cage he is in decent nic considering he has raised youngsters

Why Ive picked him his head would not be right for a show for my team needs a good clean up

Im taking a real baby a lace wing hen for all to have a look at

In some ways Im looking foward to getting out of the house in other ways Im a bit reluctant to speak to strangers

Should be an interesting evening

Ah well into the unknown

Morning

Ive decided I will be showing mainly 2013 youngsters which in my opinion the shed has to move foward & that is the only way I will of course take a couple of adult Cinns

Over the years Ive always had some fun with my youngsters so long may it continue

Ive made a start prepping the cages as I like to see a nice clean cage

Ok Bye

Hi Gaille

Thanks for that

Ive bred some half decent birds this year they just need time

Ive rung 45 & Im now down to 6 pairs just trying a few things

I bred a lacewing Lee says she is ok if she is half decent will take her to a show but she is too young for the rares NBS

Bred some half decent spangles one is quite decent marking wise

Bred quite a few opaline Cinns this year normally dont bred many of them

Really pleased with the Cinns one or two are catching my eye

THings is very tough at the minute but the birds get me through & the Boss is amazing

Ok bye for now

HI

Well today I was watching a hen being fed in the flight I thought she will go down cracking Cinn Grey Hen she won her class at Donny 2011 did well in the sections in 2012 one of those good all round hens that are gold dust

I had a pair down but the hen sjowing no interest in the box so I took her out stripped this Cinn Grey hen down put in the breeding cage lets hope eh as the Cock is very nice

Looking at what is in the flight some are coming on nicely some Im not impressed with there is only a couple of them & they are splits & I had decided they can go they are just lacking compared to my normals & Cinns

Sound horrible but Im very hard on what stays in my shed pointless keeping something I dont like

Ok Bye for now I will update as things happen

Hi

I have been reading about the Mannes trip besides the birds being good you have tp give credit to Jo from the Pics Ive seen over the years they could go straight on the bench no dirty headed birds which is very pleasing in my mind

Yes we all have a little bit of dirt & we do try to keep our lines clean but s!!! happens as they say

I have a pure mannes down with a cracking hen Ive had him since 2011 / 2012 he is nice I tried him nothing out of him yet but Im trying

I had another almost pure Mannes I got a couple of youngsters from him then he died but his son is nice has sired a couple of half decent youngsters but he is siring opaline Cinns Im not bothered they seem to be half decent

I have a nest of 2 my line & FA1 X Dev

Light Green youngster & an opaline Grey both look ok at the moment

Ive 3 cages with youngsters in with a parent or parents

Ive 3 cages waiting on the hen to start laying One hen has gone in the box so lets hope The Cock is G Tuplin I got him from the spring event 2012 he was a real baby so we are trying

Another is an FA1 Cock we call him George the boss loves him

THe last is a normal Grey he is pure Mannes he is a very quiet bird lets hope he does the job

Ok will update as things happen

Morning

The boss was down yesterday she wanted to see the latest babies

She fell for a Cinn Sky Blue just out of the box she asked who the Dad was she could see the Hen & said that is one of ours

When she saw the Cock ah yes that the Cinn G G I really like

He carries Mannes from R Long lot of BIS in his Dads pedigree

The Cocks Mam won a massive Cinn Green Y B class in 2010 at Donny so the potential is there lets hope eh

Her next comment was are those the ones to go I meekly replied yes no wonder she said not good enough to stay in our shed

She then looked at what was in the flight was happy then the other youngsters was happy

She then ran her eye over the team Ive been prepping for our inter club tournament her words this is why I love coming down to the shed to see my birds 6 adult Cocks being prepped all blowing their heads she then said ok I love my Cinns & my Greys but I do love that Spangle Grey

We bred him we like him on his day he does well he won the A A Novice at the Seaton Event I have to admit I do have a real soft spot for him

Ah well I will try & do a couple of pics of a nice light green still in the box

Ok Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
